We're in Florida to drop Spencer off for his first year of college. Here we are on the beach the day before college check in.
While Spencer looked for a pick-up basketball game, Earl and I relaxed on the hotel terrace. This was our view.
And the next morning, I went for an early morning walk along the beach. It looked like it might storm, but it didn't.
The blue helps describe my mood as I leave my 18-year-old at college, 16 hours away from home.
Hope you all are having a good Saturday.

Ohhh Paulita, your baby has gone to college! Such mixed emotions - the blue, stormy evening sky was the perfect pic to portray your feelings. My husband & I sometimes dream of this day, but I know we will have contrary feelings when it actually does arrive xoxo
OMG...sixteen hours from home! That would be difficult to take.
Of course, my oldest is now 14 hours away by plane...lol
Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST
It's hard to drop a child off at college for the first time, but must be even more difficult so far from home...
Think like this: it had to be done for the sake of his future.
That blue shot is great!
Here is my Saturday Snapshot post!
Our son went to college in Ca. Could not have been further away..... At least Florida is a fun place to visit! Best of luck to him!
AWW How sad to leave behind a kid at school.. their new home! My youngest is starting Kindergarten, and I have been TRYING to prepare myself. ;)
My Snapshot.
I hope your son has a successful first year of college! And you can't complain that you will get to visit such a nice place when you check up on him. :)
That is a long distance but sure u will all do fine. Love the pictures
I remember how excited I was when my parents dropped me off for college. It looks like a beautiful place to go to school!
I remember leaving two students at college and university at different times and thinking how quiet the house had suddenly become-- until their vacation time. :)
Lovely pics.
Lovely photos, it'll be a great place to visit, although it is such a long drive. Exciting times, although big changes are always difficult.
The pictures are great and that last one is such an amazing color of blue. Hugs to you....it has to be hard to leave.
We sent two of our kids off to FL schools, Embry Riddle and UCF...both are thriving and we enjoy working in a Feb visit♫♪
Your photos are beautiful and I would have loved to go to college in Florida! What a great place for you to visit in those cold winter months. I'm sorry for your heavy heart (I hated it) but I hope he does well. Best of luck to all!
Looks like it will be a great place to go to school and you'll have a nice place to visit. And Skype's not so bad for keeping in touch. When I went away to college (in the dark ages) we barely had telephone, it was so expensive to call long distance!
Been away from a week, so I'm catching up. My Saturday Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/a62PX Your photos look so exotic ... palm trees, sand, sea. They are lovely.
How exciting that you are going to writing a memoir. You are right there are lots of memoirs originating in France.
He's closer than France, where you lived one summer. He will be fine.
