College Visits

You'd think, with my third kid, I'd be better at college visits, but here it is October and we are only on our 2nd visit. And he is a senior. He has to apply by the end of November.
Today we went to Pitt, University of Pittsburgh, about 3 hours from home.
It's a gorgeous day, weather in the low 70s, sunny. Pittsburgh is built on a series of hills with some of the trees turning vibrant orange already.
The campus is smack-dab in the middle of the city. I liked the urban feel. Cool architecture.
Although the campus is big, 18,000 students, it feels fairly compact and sort of magical. Of course, the college campus near our house has 50,000 students, so everything seems small in comparison.
The cathedral of learning felt like Hogwarts.
And the ceilings looked like a cathedral too.
We ate in a great little diner right downtown.
Tucker wants a big campus but isn't sure he wants to be in a big city.
That's a tough request. Any suggestions?

University of Texas in Austin is a huge university in a fairly small city but...it's in Texas. Sort of far away.

Thanks, Linda. I saw that listed on 10 great college towns in U.S. News. Plus, it's Texas.
I guess we should look at University of Michigan, but I don't think we could afford it.

Good luck with all of the college visits. You'll feel so wealthy when the kids are done with school:)

Univ. of WI; Michigan State; Univ. of Missouri;
Univ. of Indiana;
All in pretty nice towns. Madison is the best!

Great ideas, Judi. I only thought of University of Michigan and it is way too expensive.

That's gorgeous architecture! I wouldn't begin to know how to choose living this close to so many good colleges. I hope he finds something that fits him well!

I haven't a clue when it comes to American Universities, but Pittsburgh Uni looks gorgeous. Good luck finding the right one x

Cockadoodle Doo or Cocorico?

 We stood in the middle of the road, having walked together 13 miles that day and Claudine grasped my forearm. "Mais non! It doesn'...
