Saturday Snapshot -- The Prodigal

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post on Alyce's blog At Home With Books. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don’t post random photos that you find online.

After three months in France, Grace returned home last night.

And she brought chocolates

Grace is terrified of flying, so as she walked to board the plane, she had tears running down her face. The flight attendant was alarmed and asked what had happened. She told him she was scared.
He took her in to meet the pilot. She got to sit in the co-pilot's chair. He bumped her up to business class. Another flight attendant gave her a phone to use so she could call me before the plan left. They took turns coming back to sit with her during the flight. Apparently a few tears go a long way.
But now she's home.
Post Script: In response to questions and comments about the airline, I should have added that she flew American Airlines. We usually fly AirFrance, but this time American had the better deal and Grace was lucky to be amongst that crew and passengers who all supported her.

It must be wonderful to have your daughter home again- and with bonus chocolates! I must learn to turn the tears on on a plane- I've never had an upgrade.

So happy that your daughter is back from her time in France. The chocolate is so lovely...almost too pretty to eat!

Paula, I assume she flew on Air France? If so, I've got to say the crew of her plane certainly overcame the unfair stereotype of the French being aloof and unfriendly. Sounds like they were wonderful to her - and she was so brave to just get on that plane alone despite her fears.

What a sweet story. I used to be afraid of flying, too, but after meeting a pilot and having him explain flying to me and answering my questions, it really became okay. I can't say I love it now, but I've certainly made peace with it. Hopefully your daughter's experience on that flight will bring her comfort on future flights.

Wonderful story! Nice to hear that they were so personable to her. Amazing that fear could get such an upgrade.

Wow, you don't hear nice airline stories like that. My daughter is terrified to fly as well. Looks like the cat is happy she is home.

Good story. The cat seems happy to see her, too.

What a nice story. Did she give them some chocolate?

The last couple of times that I flew, the airline staff seemed remote, aloof, and not at all personable.

I don't think crying would have helped...and even if I did, it would probably just make them think I was crazy! lol

I wish my prodigal son would come for a visit! He's been gone (this last time) for over four years.

Great shot.

I'm sure the fact that Grace is gorgeous helped too. I'm glad she's home.

It's great that they were so nice to her!

I took my first flight when I was about 10, on my uncle's little Cessna. I got to sit in the co-pilot's seat and turn the wheel, and that seems to have cured me of a fear of flying for life!

Here's my snapshot.

Was than an international airline? That was very nice of them. I've seen a lot of nastiness when flying and it's good to see an airline that cares about their passengers.

She said she will be less afraid to fly next time.

Gorgeous girl. Gorgeous cat. Yummy chocolates.
You remind me of the time I flew back home from Bermuda and I was allowed to go directly into the cockpit while in flight, it was so amazing to look out the front window with the pilots and see what they see, and watch what they do.
Those days, those freedoms and trust, are obviously a thing of the past.

Brave of her to travel so far when she's afraid of flying. The cat looks pleased too.

I love Grace'sphoto with the cat.

It's nice to hear she was taken care of by the crew of the plane - flying alone cane be difficult for some of us and if you're afraid it's awful. I'm so glad they treated Grace so well.

Those chocolates look amazing!
