Dreaming of France -- Something Beautiful on the Horizon

Thank you for joining this weekly meme. Grab a copy of the photo above and link back to An Accidental Blog. Share with the rest of us your passion for France. Did you read a good book set in France? See a movie? Take a photo in France? Have an adventure? Eat a fabulous meal or even just a pastry? Or if you're in France now, go ahead and lord it over the rest of us. We can take it.

You all know that I have had quite a week, but that doesn't mean I'm not still dreaming of France.
It's getting closer, our dreams, and pieces are still falling into place. I'll fill you in when I can, but for now, here's a sunset out of our B&B window in Mireval, France, close to Montepellier.

And here's a sunrise from our B&B in Quillan.
The days keep passing; the sun rises and the sun sets, and as each day passes, we get closer to making our dreams come true.
Thanks for joining me on this journey.
Thanks so much for playing along with Dreaming of France. Please leave your link below and visit each other's blogs to share your love for France.

Saturday Snapshot -- Sunset

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme, post a photo that you (or a friend of family member) have taken. Then leave a direct link to your post on West Metro Mommy. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don't post random photos that you find online.
I love colorful sunsets, don't you?
This one was over the lake by my parents' house in Florida. The color doesn't look as intense online as it did on the camera.
Enjoy your weekend.

Saturday Snapshot -- New View

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post on Alyce's blog At Home With Books. My parents live in Florida, and last week they moved to a new house on a golf course. My husband drove down to help them move and to bring back some of their extra furniture for us. (I know, we're much too old for hand-me-down furniture, but with the kids in college, that was the only way we were going to get new furniture.)
In addition to being on the golf course, the house overlooks a lake. Here are a couple of pictures showing their new view from their house.

This is a sunset over the lake. It looks so swampy and Florida, doesn't it?

And here's another shot that Earl took.

It's the moon reflecting in the lake. But I could say it's a flying saucer moving in to land. Since it's so dark, we can  use our imaginations.

Our Darkest Hour

Well, it's our darkest hour, not in the sense of doom and gloom, just in the sense of how much light we have.
Today is officially the winter solstice -- the day we have the fewest hours of daylight in the northern hemisphere. Good thing all those Christmas lights are turned on.
Some people dread the coming months of winter as the holiday season ends and the long, shrill month of January begins. Then February, the shortest month of all, seems to last forever as gray days drag on.
Both those things are true about January and February, but what is also true is that each morning, the sun peeks above the horizon a little earlier, and each evening it lingers in the western sky a few minutes longer -- starting now!
This is the shortest day of the year.
Okay, it's a small hope to hold onto, but if it helps me survive the winter while rejoicing in each extra moment of daylight then so be it.
Enjoy your winter solstice and the coming extra minutes of daylight.

Saturday Snapshot -- Paris Sky

My daughter Grace who is staying in Paris for a few months took this picture of the sunset from the balcony of the apargment where she is staying.

Then a few days later, she took this shot from Sacre Coeur.

Unfortunately, while wandering alone in Montmartre, she was set upon by some men who were overzealous to sell her things or flirt with her and she had to elbow one to let go of her. But, that's her story to tell, if she decides to.
Enjoy the photos.

I'm not sure why, but I've been obsessed with the sky lately. Here's the sky as I came out of work the other evening.

And here's the sky as we drove home from Uncle Wil's funeral last Saturday.

Sorry for the gas station in the forefront, but the sky was ominous and amazing.

The Olympic Cauldron

Many people visit Paris in August, but mostly they run into other tourists. This year, there seem to be fewer tourists throughout the city ...
