There I saw a display for macaroons at McDonalds. I paused for a moment to take a photo and to wonder who would eat McDonalds macaroons when so many wonderful patisserie shops were available.

Why oh Why!!! Especially as you say with all the wonderful patisserie shops ,event the boulangeries have beautiful pastries too.
I was one of those people one time! Once. Just once, we were trapped in a bus station waiting for a bus, and I tried them out of curiosity. They weren't terrible, but they weren't Laduree or Gerard Mulot either.
