Saturday Snapshot -- France with Kids

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post on Alyce's blog At Home With Books. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don’t post random photos that you find online.
This month, I'm also participating in Paris in July sponsored byThyme for Tea and Bookbath, so, of course, I need a France related photo. I wrote yesterday about the wildfires in Corsica when I visited there more than 25 years ago. I have some great photos from that trip, but they aren't all on the computer yet. Instead, I'll post a photo from one of our visits to France with the kids.
We took the kids to France when they were 2, 4 and 6. Yes, we were slightly optimistic and a little insane, but we have some fun photos and memories of this trip. We've forgotten the exhaustion and frustration.
Here we are outside our friend's apartment in Paris having returned from
a successful day hunting and gathering for a baguette.
Here's Earl and the kids in front of the Arc de Triomphe. We had just visited a bakery.
Grace got a Saint Honore cake and Tucker got a pain sucre pastry; Spencer asked for a KitKat candy bar. He was not convinced
of the goodness of French pastries at that point.

I think Paris is the clear winner in terms of places that the Snapshot Saturday tribe likes!

Great pictures. I'm sure you had a lot of fun even if the kids were small.

Great pics. And yes, you were so optimistic travelling to such a place with three kids.
Spencer, what a trouper. Not trusting in the local grub, he sticks with the well-established and universally-accepted treats! That is a hoot!

It's a good thing to be able to remember the fun and forget the other stuff. :) I think it's great for kids to get out into the world when they're young and see that there is so much more than their little corner of it.

How precious, especially that Arc photo. It's nice that it's the good memories that stick!

What memorable photos! I'm sure your children have fond memories of that trip too. It's amazing you still remember what they got at the bakery. I too am combining these two blogging event and posted my photos for both.

We lived in France when our son was 4 to 6 and he did fine. The sad thing is he remembers very little of it.

You were brave taking the youngsters to France.

How brave of you to take three kids to France- but such great photos and great memories. We travelled to France pre-child in 98, and then did it again when he was 9 in 2010. It was great- old enough to remember things, and old enough to appreciate some differences. I shall always love the memory of his jaw dropping when he heard me speak French for the first time, and then sitting in a cafe for the first time, looking at the menu "I can't read that, it's in French!". It's great for kids of any age to learn that there's a whole great non-English speaking world out there. Oh and he was well old enough to appreciate pastries! In fact he lead his own eclair tour of Paris.
