First Chapter -- The Good House

Every Tuesday, Diane at Bibliophile by the Sea posts the first paragraph of her current read. Anyone can join in. Go to Diane's website for the image and share the first paragraph of the current book you are reading.
This week, I started The Good House by Ann Leary. I think I must have seen this on someone else's teaser and that's why it ended up on my shelf.
Here's the intro:
I can walk through a house once and know more about its occupants than a psychiatrist could after a year of sessions. I remember joking about this one evening with Peter Newbold, the shrink who rents the office upstairs from mine.
I like this intro and I'm hoping the rest of the book lives up to it.

Also this week is Teaser Tuesdays. Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Open to a random page of your current read and share a teaser sentence from somewhere on that page. BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers.
Here's my teaser from page 2:
In fact, I'd love to compare my original observations regarding Rebecca McAllister with Peter. She was depressed, for one. I drove past the McAllister's one morning in late May, not long after they'd moved in, and there she was, out in the early morning haze, planting annuals all along the garden path. It wasn't even 7 a.m., but it was clear that she'd been at it for hours.
What do you think?

Looks like a good read to me! The second bit is somewhat disturbing. Is she eager and ready or sleepless and sad? Great teaser!

:)

I like!

Thanks for stopping by The Lair

Dark Predator is on the darker side but What a Duke Desires is a Regency-era romance and should turn out with a happy-ever-after.

Congratulations!! I found out about your novel, The Summer of France, while I was blog hopping the Tuesday First Chapter posts.

I just purchased a copy for my Kindle app and can't wait to read it. I also posted it on Facebook.

So happy for you!
