Today I downloaded a new memoir on my Kindle. It's French Illusions: from Tours to Paris by Linda Kovic-Skow. This is the second part of Linda's memoir about her time in France, which began as an au pair. I read her first memoir two years ago and enjoyed it.
Here's the opening:
A chilly gust of December wind blew hair into my face as I leaned through the car window to swap cheek kisses with Evelyne. "Thanks for the ride," I said, pulling my blue wool coat tighter.I'll be sure to write a review when I finish the memoir so you can all try it too.
She smiled, and her toffee-brown eyes sparkled as she steered her Citroen down the cobbled street.
I look forward to learning about some new reads from everyone else.

Thanks for sharing, and I love to visit Paris via books and movies.
And thanks for visiting my blog, and I'm sure you are not Aunt Jeanne...LOL.
Hope you enjoy it! Not sure it would be my cup of tea, but you never know. :-)
Oh this sounds lovely, you can't beat a good book set in Paris. Loved the opening paragraph. Here is my Tuesday post https://cleopatralovesbooks.wordpress.com/2015/05/12/first-chapter-first-paragraph-may-12/
What a pleasant surprise, Paulita. Thank you so much for downloading my memoir. This is a very different story from the first book, so I'll be anxious to hear what you think. As you know, I enjoyed your first novel, The Summer of France. Now that I have time, I'll check out your other books too!
Sounds like an interesting memoir. I'm sad to say that I've never been to Paris, but it's high on my "must see" list of cities. In the meantime, this book sounds like a good way to visit there vicariously.
Thank you for commenting on my blog today.

Probably not a book I would pick, but hope you like it.
Hmm, I am striking out with a lot of the openers in the hop this week, and this one also leaves me cold. Hope you enjoy the book though!
My opener post lives here: http://www.bookpunks.com/so-it-begins-the-word-exchange-by-alena-graedon/
I've just started another mystery and I already know I won't like it but will probably finish it. I hate it when that happens. I finished a memoir called Finding My Balance by Mariel Hemingway which goes into her yoga practice a bit and her life.
I've enjoyed your post and can fully empathize with your experience since I've gone through similar. I don't think it's a matter of honesty, but your choice of what stories to tell. Thanks for sharing. ;)
