Dreaming of France -- Reversed

Please join this weekly meme. Grab a copy of the photo above and link back to An Accidental Blog. Share with the rest of us your passion for France. Did you read a good book set in France? See a movie? Take a photo in France? Have an adventure? Eat a fabulous meal or even just a pastry? Or if you're in France now, go ahead and lord it over the rest of us. We can take it.
Maybe we can all satisfy our yearnings for France, until we get there again.
As some of us are dreaming of France, a Frenchman we know is dreaming of America, so he is coming to visit for the first time.
Nicolas is the son of our good friends Michel and Danuta who live in Nantes. I met Michel and Danuta when I visited France as an au pair and Danuta was pregnant with Nicolas at the time. Whenever anyone in our family visits France, Michel and Danuta are the best tour guides ever and they serve us magnificent meals paired with fabulous wines.
I want to return the favor for Nicolas. He will be here in Columbus for two days, and I have some ideas about sights to see, but I'm really stumped about what American meal to serve our French friend.
Whether  you're American or Australian or Canadian or any other nationality, what homemade meal would a French person like to eat in the United States?

if you are looking for something Canadian that he would not get at home my suggestions are tortiere and pancakes with maple syrup. I am sure he has never had Mac and cheese. what about a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. with pumpkin pie, cranberry, cheesecake.

Hmm... I wish to help you on that so I asked the bf (who happens to be a young Frenchman) what homemade US food he wishes to try. He said he doesn't really have knowledge of American food ... perhaps nice burger with delicious patty (with slice of fresh tomato and lettuce, and cheese) or grilled hotdogs?

Speaking of food, it's la raclette that I posted about on my blog and now I'm just hungry again for cheese and wine!

I wish you a great week Paulita! :)

Hi Paulita , thank you for your comment on my blog, oh yes how it must be to own a wine shop in Paris. There are so many wine shops but I think this is a great idea for people that do not speak any French. Sorry I do forget to link to Dreaming of FRance, but have done so now.

Having never been to America , I have no idea what you can serve .. I would be stumped here too . I hope that he has a fantastic few days with you, I am sure he will.

Sorry! If you had said Italy, it would be different as I have recently returned from there. I know nothing of American fare.

Oh that's a tough one. Hamburgers are available worldwide now if you want them, so to Australian eyes they don't seem that exotic. When I went to Texas a few years ago I was most excited by the regional southern specialities- po boys, gumbo, grits, biscuits, beignets (oh my they were good). Not sure what regional delights you have there in Ohio though. Local wines and beer is always welcome too of course.

Cockadoodle Doo or Cocorico?

We stood in the middle of the road, having walked together 13 miles that day and Claudine grasped my forearm. "Mais non! It doesn'...
