Tuesday Intros -- The Arrangement

Every Tuesday, Diane at Bibliophile by the Sea posts the first paragraph of her current read. Anyone can join in. Go to Diane's website for the image and share the first paragraph of the current book you are reading.
I found this book, The Arrangement by Ashley Warlick, at the library, and it looks like fun. Here's the intro.
She'd made it sound as though her husband would be joining them for dinner. She'd made it sound that way on purpose, and then she arrived alone, lifting her shoulders in a vague wifely gesture of disappointment, and maybe the gave the impression of upset. She'd thought about this moment since she learned Gigi would be out of town. She wanted Tim's attentions to herself for the evening, and she'd planned accordingly.
"I reminded Al a week ago," she said, "and then again this morning. I don't know what he's thinking half the time."
Tim leaned to kiss her cheek wrapped in his smoke, his trim dark suit, his sense of ease. His hair had always been white. "Well," he said. "Perhaps he'll join us later?"
Oh, my. Sounds a little dicey.
I'll look forward to seeing what you all are reading.

Dicey indeed! I am reading "The Book Thief" aloud to my kid--even a teen can benefit from bedtime stories, especially in a language that might be maternal but that isn't the language spoken at school. And my kid HATES to read, especially in English. But if I'm doing the work, and interjecting questions, then it's tolerable. Kind of.
Otherwise, on my nightstand and getting through about a paragraph at a time before I doze off, is "Don Quixote." No kidding. It's incredibly funny and I love it, but once I lie down to start to read it, I zonk out. And I accept that!

I loved the Book Thief, and reading to my kids was the best. I bet one of my sons, 22, would still love to be read to.
Good luck getting through Don Quixote. Has to be better than Moby Dick. But I understand the urge to sleep.

This one is new to me and, although it's not a me book I think lots of readers will want to try it.

I am intrigued by the intro and have an idea of what it may be about and wonder if I am right. Happy reading.

The excerpt you showed looks quite a lot more interesting than what I am reading right now. I am reading “Downsizing the Family Home – what to save, what to let go.” I hope it gives me a lot of tips – reading as a duty, not as enjoyment…
