Dreaming of France -- Where Would You Live?

Please join this weekly meme. Grab a copy of the photo above and link back to An Accidental Blog. Share with the rest of us your passion for France. Did you read a good book set in France? See a movie? Take a photo in France? Have an adventure? Eat a fabulous meal or even just a pastry? Or if you're in France now, go ahead and lord it over the rest of us. We can take it.
Lately, my husband and I have spent a lot of time talking about where we want to live when we move to France. Maybe it's because our youngest is a senior in high school so we will soon have more living options.
We also watch HGTV's House Hunters International to see what other people pick.
Our dream is a house somewhere in the south of France, possibly Provence, near a village where we could walk to buy bread or have a drink.
Maybe this would be our view from above a city.
But if we lived in a city, we'd want to live in an authentic French building, not a large, modern apartment building.
Maybe someday we'll have a view like this from our apartment in Aix.
This pic by Grace when she visited Delana in Aix en Provence
Or maybe we'll look out on a square with a fountain, like this one.
Another photo by Grace in Aix.
Thanks for playing along today.

I vote for an authentic Parisian apartement with all mod cons!!

Jackie, Definitely. I'm reading a memoir where the family bought a house without indoor plumbing. That is a non-starter with me. I need a bathroom.

I am quite fond of Lyon. I want a boulangerie very close by.

I'd pick Aix. St Remy is also a beautiful city. Nimes, Utezes and Lourmarin would also be on my list.

Great photos! A lot of expats move to either very tiny villages and buy big farmhouses, or they move to an apartment in Paris or a smaller city. It is a difficult decision because both options are wonderful. I guess it depends a bit on whether you will spend a lot of time at home or if you like spending a good deal of time going to museums, restaurants, shopping etc.

Oh we can only dream. I'd pick Paris, they were building flats on rue de sevres when we were there last year that would be perfect. Now, just to win the lottery!

After a lot of diberation , I have not choosen Paris , I have chosen Menton , never been but was so close . I love this part of France and it is right on the border of my beloved Italy .

I love everything I have seen and experienced in Paris and will definitely go back :-) what I am finding though , I am reading more and more Brits going in , opening Fish and chips shops, Americans opening more places etc etc ,, I don't want that. I don't want to know that failing Marks and Spencers is over there . I do shop in M and S , but not in Paris.

My inlaws went to Menton and love loved it. I haven't been anywhere but Italy in Europe so I would have to say from what I see on television...Italy! I'm thinking Sicily where my relatives live.

So fun to see all of your dreams about living in Frabce (or Italy) too

Since we are dreaming, I'm going to pick a Parisian apartment AND a place on the beach in Bandol; starting everyday with a morning walk along the seafront promenade and popping in for a cafe au lait is still my idea of Paradise.

I am rather partial to my area of France but really anywhere would be an exciting adventure. Happy dreaming!

Many people visit Paris in August, but mostly they run into other tourists. This year, there seem to be fewer tourists throughout the city ...
