Saturday Snapshot -- Candlelight

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme post a photo that you (or a friend or family member) have taken then leave a direct link to your post on Alyce's blog At Home With Books. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don’t post random photos that you find online.
A surprise storm went through yesterday afternoon. It blew down power lines and we of course were affected. We have been without power about 16 hours now. We are always unprepared. The flashlights didn't have batteries. We have only a motley collection of pillar candles which don't give off much light. earl lit a lantern for the front porch. If the power stays out, we may have to dig up the kerosene lamps. Here's what it looked like at my house last night.
Here's the flickering light in the bathroom.

Here's a shot from the dining room through the living room and onto the front porch.

OMG! I am afraid of power outages, and while there are batteries in my flashlights, when they sit for a long time without use, they could be dead. Hope your power is on soon!

Being without power in this heat is awful. I hope yours is restored soon.

Hope you have the power back on. We had terrible storms here earlier in the week, and some parts of the county have been without power, and some places have been flooded, but we were lucky here. My Snapshots are at My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/l9bDi

I love candle-shots. The camera picks it up so differently than what you see with your eyes.

I don't mind the power going out, but it is a bummer when it happens late at night and you have to fumble around for flashlights and candles. Our power doesn't go out very often here though, and when it does it gets put back online very quickly (our town's sewer system backs up if the power is out for more than 24 hours - we've only come close to having that happen once).

Our power went out last week. Of course it was the day the temps rose above a hundred. Without ac, it was so hot, even at night. The power was finally restored at midnight. Hope yours was, too!

Here's my
Saturday Snapshot.
I hope you will stop by!

I live in a rural area where the power just goes out without reason, so we installed an automatic generator and have lived happily ever after♫♪

I'm never quite prepared for power outages. Romantic though. Hope your power comes back.

I read about that storm-it was a big one. I hope your electricity is back soon.

We get power outages here, storms or no storms so I'm accustomed and have a stock of candles, batteries and flashlights. It's a nuisance, though. Particularly when it lasts a long time.

Hey Paulita

Hope all is well, I have been watching news coverage of the storm that blew thru Baltimore, Maryland. Hoping the best! I heard some Hydro workers were going down to the states to help. Hope it gets sorted soon. Stay cool.
